What belongs outside the leadership pack
A short guide to leaving operational detail in project tools so the portfolio brief stays decision-focused.
A leadership brief is not a second project management system. When every subtask and comment thread migrates into the pack, directors skim and miss the decisions that matter.
Leave daily stand-up notes, creative feedback threads, and hour-by-hour resource grids in the tools your teams already use. The pack should carry programme health, budget posture, milestone risk, and named asks.
Client mood belongs in the narrative only when it changes commercial risk—renewal doubt, scope dispute, or praise that unlocks expansion. Mood without consequence is noise.
If a manager needs more depth during the meeting, link to a controlled appendix rather than thickening every page. Appendices can be opened; they should not be the default reading path.
